A Ltd Edition hand screenprint produced in response to the global Black Lives Matter Network in the USA but from the prospective of being black in London.
n 2013, the movement began with the use of the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter on social media after the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of African-American teen Trayvon Martin in February 2012. Black Lives Matter became nationally recognized for its street demonstrations following the 2014 deaths of two African Americans: Michael Brown—resulting in protests and unrest in Ferguson—and Eric Garner in New York City.
The senseless slaying of young black men has become an epidemic reminiscent to the crack flood of New York in the early 1980's. Death by a knife has become the standard currency whereby young black men are being killed and bludgeoned on a daily basis.
